How to configure email with Apple or Mac Mail Client? - IMAP




Apple Mail is the default email client that comes with every Mac using OS X 10.0 or later. This guide will show you how to configure your Apple Mail application to access email for your Zap Infotech Server.

Before you start, be sure to have these handy:

  • Your domain name: websitename.com  (i.e zapinfotech.com)
  • Your email address: email@websitename.com  (i.e. test@zapinfotech.com)
    For more information, please read this article: Creating a POP/IMAP email account.
  • Your email password.

You can manually configure your mail client using the settings below:

Secure SSL/TLS Settings (Recommended)
Username: email@websitename.com
Password: Use the email account’s password.
Incoming Server: mail.websitename.com
  • IMAP Port: 993
  •  
  • POP3 Port: 995
Outgoing Server: mail.websitename.com
  • SMTP Port: 465
IMAP, POP3, and SMTP require authentication.
 
Non-SSL Settings (NOT Recommended)
Username: info@websitename.com
Password: Use the email account’s password.
Incoming Server: mail.websitename.com
  • IMAP Port: 143
  •  
  • POP3 Port: 110
Outgoing Server: mail.websitename.com
  • SMTP Port: 25
IMAP, POP3, and SMTP require authentication.

  • Path Prefix: Leave this area blank.
  • Port: You will want to connect using the correct port based on the settings you have selected.
    • IMAP: 143, or 993 if you are using SSL.
    • POP: 110, or 995 if you are using SSL.

That's it! You just configured your website email address on Apple Mail.
